No bike is safe!
Would the result be any different in Omaha???
Welcome to the Goathead Mountain Bike Blog. This is nothing more than your average blog, moderated by a few average guys with average riding abilities. If you strive for mediocrity like we do, then we'll get along just fine.

Official Pictures
The Cornhusker State Games web site has a link to the "official photos" of the games. All five of the participating Goatheads have a picture on the bike. I also spotted a Kayak photo and an ending run photo. I am going to buy a poster of myself. (it is only $50.00)

4 Days, 4 Rides, 44 Miles, and I'm out!
Well, guys, my week of bachelor life is over as of this afternoon when I pick Mrs. A.B. up at the airport. Turns out, I'd be a pretty boring bachelor. I spent at least 11 hours a day working, 1 hour preparing, eating, and cleaning dishes, 1 hour doing around-the-house stuff, and about 2 hours riding. No time for anything else. I feel good though. How often does an opportunity to ride that much in one week come along? I just wish you goatheads could have joined me. We're leaving town on Saturday night for the week and will not return until next Sunday. Don't miss me too bad, and keep the trails warm for me!

Next Running Challenge
Alright all you flat-foots, here's your next challenge since the Adventure Race has been dealt with:
Navy SEAL runs 135 mile race in Death Valley for SOWF
Count me out.. I'm back to two wheels only.
Navy SEAL runs 135 mile race in Death Valley for SOWF
Covering 135 miles non-stop from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, CA in temperatures up to 130 degrees the Badwater is reported to be the most demanding and extreme running race offered anywhere on Earth. Runners will travel through landmarks with names like Furnace Creek, Devil’s Cornfield, and Stovepipe Wells. For those who finish the 135-mile journey in less than 48-hours, their reward is a coveted Badwater belt buckle. There is no prize money.
Count me out.. I'm back to two wheels only.

Let the record show.....
Let the record show that the five Goatheads that competed in the '06 Cornhusker State Games Adventure Race straight up represented! On a day where conditions pounded racers into the dry shadeless earth, these five individuals bought the land title to Wagon Train State Park and from this day forward own that parcel of land. Let the record show that no less than 21 teams succumbed to the heat and did not finish. With a 'bring-it-on-Mother-Nature' grin on their faces, these five individuals finished 8th and 22nd in their respective division. Because of what you have accomplished, this chub's for you!!!

More Adventure race pictures
Here's a few pictures that my wife took. She didn't get any of us on the bikes or in the kayak. She spent most of her time with the video camera and left before Team Lunch Buffet crossed the finish line. I know the Professor has some good pictures. Maybe somebody can go over to his house to show him how to post. I'm sarting to lose faith in higher education.
