Yes they did...
Foals in winter coats,
White girls of the North,
File past one, five and one
They are the fabled lambs,
Of Sunday ham,
The EHS norm.
And they could float above the grass,
In circles if they tried,
A latent power I know they hide,
To keep some hope alive,
That a girl like I'm could ever try,
Could ever try.
So we just skirt the hallway sides,
A phantom and a fly,
Follow the lines and wonder why
There's no connection.
And week of rolling eyes,
And cheap shots from the trite,
And we're off to Nemacura’s porch again,
Another afternoon with the goat head tunes,
And pilfered booze.
We wandered through the mama's house,
And the milk from the window lights,
Family portrait circa ninety-five,
This is that foreign land,
With the sprayed on tans,
And it all feels fine,
Be it silk or slime,
So, when they tap our mundane heads,
To zombie-walk in our stead,
This town seems hardly worth our time,
And we'll no longer memorize or rhyme,
Too far along in our climb,
Stepping over what now towers to the sky,
With no connection.
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
So, when they tap our Sunday heads,
To zombie-walk in our stead,
This town seems hardly worth our time,
And we'll no longer memorize or rhyme,
Too far along in our crime,
Stepping over what now towers to the sky,
With no connection.
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
Oooh waooooooo waooooooo
...So, we riding this weekend or what? The Proletariat and I met for lunch yesterday and decided that all the guys would have to wear dresses on Sunday if we don't ride.

I thought I heard them say "Goathead tunes", I was always curious what they were singing about......Now that I've read all the lyrics, I'm still wondering what the heck they're singing about. Well, whatever it is it earned them a spot on the soundtrack for the '07 Goathead video.
I think it means songs from Goat's Head Soup, which is an old album by the Rolling Stones.
Tina,
Thanks for your prompt response on this matter.

Goathead is a former Portland Oregon band. The Shins were living in p-town when the album came out.
They are talking about all the metal bands that we all listened to but only listened to in period piece/coming of age story preying to be a track. “Listen to the goat head tunes with pilfered booze” all those Slayer, Metallica , Pantera all had goat heads and pentagrams on them. Remember? So they were basically listing to Slayer with stolen vodka(pilfered booze) on there homies porch like they always did. That why they referenced “back” to his porch like it was home base,to do what they always did… Drink stolen booze listen to metal and talk shit( cheap shots from the tribe) on there homies porch) It’s just hard to recognize because this track is so pretty and reminiscent. This track is brilliant. This description of some hum-drum week is something only us that were truly blessed can remember. Other people had things much harder.
Go ahead…. Roll your eyes….
