Swanson Controversy

Mod brought up the one thing I forgot to mention from Swanson on Saturday. Join the controversy.

With the changes to Tranquility and Swanson, will Manawa be the new downhiller entry trail?

(stirring the pot)

Update: When a blog censors itself, it makes it really awkward for the other blogs that link to it. I feel exposed. I think my slip is showing. :(

Positive criticism is always welcome. If no one complains, then things will never get better. Please discuss these things with the trail leaders and offer to help with any ideas you may have to improve the trails. Also trail work days are an excellent time to discuss areas that you feel could be improved. Some of the stuff is necessary to keep erosion at bay. Together we can build some kick ass trails! See ya out there...

Sorry if I offended, I'm really just funnin'. If you saw the previous post, you know we try to observe the THOR recommendations for trail care, etc. Trail work has been fun and a great way to meet people as well.

But in all seriousness, was the gravel intentional?

jc4300,
Your total lack of respect for the local MTB authorities is shameful. I order you to four hours of manual labor under the direction of our dark overlord, T.H.O.R.

But seriously, I think everyone knows that THOR is trying to make more sustainable trails, and for that, and for all their hard work, we are all very grateful. With that said, I do have 2 small complaints.
One, above everything else, mountain biking is supposed to be fun, but it seems that THOR sometimes forgets the fun factor when building trails.
Two, whenever someone raises a question or concern, the response is usually along the lines of "THOR knows best, don't question THOR". And the assumption seems to be that those raising the question have never been to a trail day. I know for a fact that JC has been to a few. I've seen him there.

I don't want to sound like a hater I really do appreciate the hard work..... Thanks for all that you do, THOR. You are the wind beneath my wings and the dirt/gravel under my tires.

no offense taken, i fully agree with you guys. I hit that gravel a couple of weeks ago full blast and about ate the tree as well.

I was just saying that the trail leaders are very open to opinions and conversations. I talked with the tranq guys this weekend about some sections of trail that didn't flow well. They agreed and we are going out to tweak some choke points this week and try to make the trail better.

Rider input is what will make things better for everyone in the long run. If a majority doesn't like a new section, it is best to speak early. This way corrections can be made before the trail beds in and we cause more erosion problems.

sorry Lumpy, i didn't mean to come off as preachy. I don't speak for thor in any way and was just giving an opinion. Hmm, now that i re-read that, it was kinda preachy. Crap, i need to ride more...

No worries, buconine. I was actually referring more to some of the sentiments I saw expressed on another message board.
THOR is really in a difficult position. I'll try to cut them some more slack.
Team Goathead will do its best to be at the next work day.....except for the Professor that is. He's a lazy pile.
