J.C., thanks for taking/posting pictures of the race. And a big thanks to everybody that put on the event. The demo day was a blast and the race was well organized and well worth the $10 registration.
About a week ago I teased an announcement that we were going to make here at mtbgoatheads.....well, the time has finally come to unveil the First Annual, "321 Cycling Challenge." (If you say the word "Challenge" with a French accent, it makes it sound like it's kind of a big deal)
Before I give you the details, let me give you all a little background. This whole thing is the brain child of my good friend, The Professor, (aka, Jon Hood). Jon has had two passions over the last few years, mountain biking and at-risk-kids. Jon was looking for a way to combine the two, I suggested strapping the at-risk-kids to bikes and sending them down the chute at Lewis and Clark and then taking bets on how many would make it to the bottom in one piece, Jon came up with a better idea........
On the morning of July 28th, the Goatheads will be sponsoring a charity ride that will help raise money for youth in Omaha, Nebraska and in San Salvador, El Salvador. The Goatheads are partnering with Christ Community Church and their global/local initiative called "Year of the Child". CCC is trying to raise money for six different youth related projects. The money we are raising will go towards a youth center in El Salvador and to the Omaha Street School, right here in our fine city.
The 3-2-1 Cycling Challenge will give you the opportunity to ride 3 trails in 2 states, while benefiting 1 Great Cause!!! The cost to ride is $25. Every participant will receive a t-shirt and a free BBQ lunch upon completion.
Here's a quick run down of the ride: One lap at Lewis and Clark. Next, ride the River Front trail to the Lake Manawa mountain bike trail for a lap. Next, we will ride over the South Omaha bridge and onto Swanson Park in Bellevue for a spin around the trail and family picnic in the park.
Visit 321Cycling.com for more details and to print off a registration form. If you have any questions about the event, email Jon at jnshood@netzero.net

What a great idea! Just thought I would say so since we will be in the Ozarks that weekend. I am sure it will be a great ride and we will look forward to next year.
Thanks Annie! As long as I've been biking (which isn't very long), I haven't seen anyone try anything like this, so we have no idea whether it will be successful or not. That's too bad you won't be around. The biggest help people could give us would be spreading the word. We think there's enough mtbr's in the area to make this thing work, we're just not sure how to get the word out.
Have fun in the Ozarks!
I am brand new to mountain biking, but i think i am in. At least i can try to make it.
That's good to hear! I look forward to meeting you.
Since it's not a race, the pace will be pretty chill. If there are people that would like to participate but are not sure about the distance, I think Jon will be posting an ETA for each of the trail heads. So, people can meet up for part of the ride if they don't want to do the whole thing.
