Potter's Pasture

Anybody ever ridden Potter's Pasture? I've read about it on various mountain bike forums, but I've never actually talked to anybody who's been there. I think it's out near Ogallala. The Professor and I have talked about taking a detour sometime on our way to Denver. Can anybody tell me if it's worth it???

Inlaws live out that way so I've ridden out there quite a bit. Call Cyclesport in North Platte for the full scoop. It's about 15 minutes south of Brady, just this side of North Platte. Exit at Brady go south until the pavement ends. Turn right and follow road west...it will curve south and start into the hills. Keep going until pavement ends again. Hit your odometer and go .6 miles...you'll see a windmill on top of the hill to your left...gate's on the left--don't forget to shut it or the cows will escape. There's a map posted on the Great Plains forum of MTBR.com.

About 30 miles of trails...some really good. Wierd riding in the cattle tracks...knee to chest deep ruts...hold a straight line or you're going down. On the bright side, the soil is pretty soft so it doesn't hurt that bad.

It looks sweet! You could make some cool transfers in and out of the trenches.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a must do road trip.

Do the people that own the land care if mountain bikers camp there?

No they don't care infact they incourage it. The owner has a fire pit and make shift out-houses. The guys form North Platte ride out there every
